"Too easy." Blake murmured to himself as he pulled a cigarette from his pack. The young man didn't take his eyes of the raider encampment in his path as he lit the cigarette. The sun had set a while ago and he had watched as half of the raiders went out to raid another settlement about an hour ago. Being an ex-raider himself he knew full well that the raiders would set out just after sunset. This timing left their base vulnerable. From what he could tell there were three raiders remaining within the encampment. One was walking along the outer walls of their base, and from the voices he could tell there were two others inside bickering about something. He took a long drag from his cigarette, slowly exhaling the smoke, savoring its flavor. The lit tip of his cigarette would easily give him away in the dark, but he didn't care, he wasn't one for stealth anyway.
As if taking an afternoon stroll Blake walked towards the front of encampment, if his timing was correct the outer guard would make his way to the front in about five seconds. Counting down these seconds he took his .44 Bull pistol from its holster and cocked it. As he reached the number three he could feel the adrenaline surge through his veins. "Kill, show no mercy, survive." The words echoed through his mind once again.
Sure enough the guard turned the corner at exactly five seconds, raiders predictable as always. By this time Blake's gun was already pointed unto the raider, and sure enough without a second of hesitation he fired. "First one down." He murmured to himself as the raider's corpse hit the deck. He knew the other raiders would react and sprinted towards the front gate, dropping his cigarette in the progress.
Blake reached the gate within a couple of seconds, the sound of his footsteps most likely covered by the screams of the other two raiders. They yelled for their dead comrade, but to no avail. Blake stood there hunched up against the wall next to the gate, waiting for one of them to come out and check. Raiders were known to be reckless and stupid so if that was anything to go by he could take another one out when the gate opened. He reached for his sledgehammer on his back, wielding it in one hand with his gun in the other. He readied himself to take a swing at the gate as soon as it opened.
Sure enough like he predicted the gate creaked open. The moment the raider's face revealed itself it was smashed in with a wide swing from the sledge hammer. The sound of bones cracking filled the air, and sure enough another raider carcass hit the ground. This sensation clouded Blake's mind even more. The words his father had recited to him echoed through his head, louder and louder. A wide grin formed unto his lips as he was on the verge of losing control.
"Come on out, ya lil' bitch." Blake yelled trying to taunt the raider on the other side of the wall. He put his sledge hammer back unto his back, as he waited for a response from the raider. "Why don't you come out, ya lil' pest." The raider barked back at him. Blake took the time to take a quick hit from his jet, and he could feel his mind relaxing, his mind returning to him. His eyes shot towards a stone at his feet, which he picked up immediately. From what he could tell from the direction of the voice, the raider was directly in front of the gate, aiming her gun at the opening. The rock would make a good distraction. He threw it into the opening, and sure enough the raider opened fire upon it. 'Trigger happy.' He thought to himself. As soon as he heard the raider exhale he turned the corner at the gate and opened fire into the direction he thought the raider was in. The jet now fully kicked in, which seemed to slow down time. The first two shots went wide, but after a little adjustment the next two bullets hit home. As the raider fell down, Blake let out a relieved sigh.
It was done, against the odds he won the little skirmish. three versus one are never the kind of fights you wanted to take. He looked around the little encampment and eventually found the settler's woman locked up in a shed. He found a key on one of the bodies and released the woman shortly after. Tears formed in her eyes as she thanked the young man for saving her.
